For about a week, Inez had not been feeling well. She thought that she had the stomach flu or something that was going around. She had pain in her abdominal area and was dealing with nausea. On Saturday, her mom took her to the Medical Center of the Rockies. A blood test led to a CT scan. Based on the results of these tests, the Medical Center of the Rockies transported Inez to Poudre Valley Hospital where she was admitted. The doctors told Inez and her family that she was battling Ovarian Cancer.

The doctors performed surgery in early April which included a full hysterectomy. They were able to remove over 95% of the cancer and cancer tissue! The remaining cancer is to be fought with chemotherapy. The oncologist has outlined a course of treatment that will be a combination of two chemotherapy drugs along with anti-nausea medications. She will have 6 treatments, 1 every 3 weeks, so this will take about 4 ½ months. Her treatments will begin the first week of May, after her body has more time to recover from the surgery.

Inez is getting stronger and is preparing for the fight ahead of her. She was told that she will lose her hair, but if that's what it takes to kick the cancer, she's OK with that!! A message from Inez:
